How I Lost 31 pounds…
Tiffany asked how I lost 31 pounds in the last nine months. I was going to answer in the comments, then I thought i would write a post about it, but I have decided to give it it’s own page because it is a big accomplishment for me and I would love it if my story could help someone else. Not sure how great of a story it is, but here goes……
In January of this year I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I was about 140 pounds overweight and I was so sick at that time. When I started researching the gluten free diet I made a decision that if i was going to cut all this crud out of my diet then i would be VERY careful with what I reintroduced. That meant, if i found GF cookies, i left them on the shelf. I began strictly eating GF meals only until I got the hang of going gluten free. I was very afraid to eat once I started feeling better so my intake was very limited. Not to say that this is the way to go, i was just extremely afraid in the beginning to eat. But I have since discovered that there is a wonderful world of GF eating to be done out there!
So basically, in limiting what I ate, I conquered the horrid world of overeating. I also eliminated desserts. I pretty much only have gf desserts as occasional treats now.
I also have been careful as to make sure the gf meals i reintroduce are healthy. I don’t eat anything fried anymore for obvious reasons (flour) but I did not run out and find a gf fried chicken recipe.
I have been learning how to cook at home which is making a big difference on my health and my wallet!
I have now discovered menu planning which is a HUGE help in my life. First of all, it eliminates the “what are we going to eat tonight”. It also eliminates dragging my heals for two hours then eating something I might not have eaten if I had just planned ahead.
I have lost 31 pounds since January, ALMOST two pant sizes, one shirt size, and a bra size. And it feels great!
It would be more but I haven’t added in exercise yet and I still have to conquer my coca cola habit that I have. But once those are conquered and added the fat will FLY off! YAY!
Also, during this time I have learned NOT to focus on how much you are losing. The main focus needs to be your health. What are you putting into your body? How much of it are you putting into your body
Focus on those things and the weight will follow
I also used to think that I needed to lose this weight ALL at once! I am NOT very patient
Which is why it has taken SEVEN long years to get to this point. But the upside here is that even though it took me nine months to lose 31 pounds, I have kept it off! And I have much healthier eating habits.
Good luck!
